What is LGBTQ

LGBTQ stands for lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, queer, or questioning. Sexual orientation — gay, lesbian, bisexual, pansexual — describes which gender identities you’re attracted to. Gender identity is the way you feel about and express your gender (male, female, both, neither).

Local Programs and Centers

Planned Parenthood Keystone

sponsors three programs for Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning, Queer and Allies+ (LGBTQ+) youth ages 14 to 21:

Our LGBTQ+ youth programs provide a safe, supportive and empowering environment for LGBTQ+ youth. In our programs, youth can be themselves and experience the freedom of knowing they are accepted totally and without reservation. Our weekly meetings facilitated by trained Planned Parenthood educators feature a blend of education, recreation and advocacy. Program topics include sexuality education, life skills, LGBTQ+ history, guest speakers, game nights and activities to promote health, wellness and a strong sense of belonging within LGBTQ+ communities and the world. Our programs are confidential, free and provide a space where LGBTQ+ youth can learn, build support networks and have fun.

The LGBT Center of Greater Reading

We are an LGBTQ+ Center located in Reading, Pennsylvania. We acknowledge that all individuals deserve respect, acceptance, and support of their inherent rights. Lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender (LGBT) individuals experience marginalization and denied rights as part of the human community. Therefore, we believe that we can make a difference by promoting social justice for all LGBTQ+ individuals.

The LGBT Center of Greater Reading was established to create, administer and provide services, advocacy, and support to the Greater Reading community, including our allies, with the goal that all may live a life of fulfillment, inclusion, and celebration.
